Soller Townhouse

Starting point

Structural restoration of a partially cellared townhouse in Soller. Issue: extremely moist walls due to rising damp, a great deal of salt efflorescence.

Challenge

Our job: install horizontal barriers into the ground floor and cellar walls. It was necessary to take the different heights in the building and courtyard into account during the project. We drilled the holes accordingly to ensure that the material would spread evenly throughout the masonry. It was necessary to remove all of the plaster due to the high concentration of salts. The ideal approach would have been to treat the walls with the BKM Mannesmann salt converter prior to replastering to draw as much of the salt out of the walls as possible. A special preparatory mortar would prevent salt from penetrating into the plaster.
